Based out
of Wilmington, Ohio, the Majestic Sounds Quartet was formed in February of 2008 through the efforts
of Jim Spradling from Wilmington, Ohio and Keith Petrequin from Waynesville, Ohio. Jim, having previously sang
with a couple quartets, sings the bass part and Keith, having experience as a soloist and as a music director, sings
the tenor part. Keith's son, Brian Petrequin, also from Waynesville, Ohio, sings the lead part. Myron
Padget from Middletown, Ohio was brought on board to sing the baritone part.
About a year
after the group started singing Myron had to step down from the quartet and was soon replaced by Rick Doran from Vandalia,
Ohio, who came to the group with over 30 years quartet experience. Rick also wrote the recently published book covering
Ohio's history of southern gospel entitled, "Southern Sounds From The North." In
2009, with special training from Charles Novell, the group completed their first recording.
In early 2010, as his workload began to increase, Brian had to leave the group. At which time
Keith moved to the lead position and Gail Long from Lima, Ohio joined the group singing the tenor part. Gail had previously
sang with an Ohio group called Jericho Road. Although a great guy, things just didn't
work out and Gail was only with the group a short time.
To
keep the group going Brian Petrequin filled in a couple times until a soloist by the name of Norman Patterson agreed to travel
with the group singing lead unto the position had been filled. Norm was an inspiration to the group and, although only
a temporary position, he will always be considered an honorary member of the group.
In May of 2010 Ben Russell from Butler, Kentucky accepted the Tenor position. Ben comes with a strong
southern gospel background having traveled with the Miami Valley Boys, Mansion City Quartet and the Gospel River Boys.
In June of 2010 Rick Doran left the group to sing baritone for the Hallmark Quartet based out of Ironton, Ohio
and once again Norman Patterson will be singing with the group until the position has been permanently filled.
With the use of soundtrack accompaniment the group now travels
throughout Ohio and the surrounding states singing traditional southern gospel music for the purpose of uplifting their
brothers and sisters in Christ. It is also the group's desire that through our music ministry some lost soul might accept Christ
as Lord and Savior.
